Cape Farewell's Arctic Liquidation Sale (Video)

I don't have many rules in life, but one of them is that whenever a friend of mine posts a video of himself imitating a Spanish pitchman in front of a glacier, I have to spread it far and wide. So here's Kevin Buckland, on a recent Cape Farewell arctic expedition, performing a clever parody of an over-the-top Latino salesman trying to move a rapidly spoiling commodity: arctic ice.

So the context: Every year, Cape Farewell, which describes itself as "the cultural response to climate change," puts a bunch of scientists and artists together on a boat and sends them to the front lines of climate change, usually the arctic. Last month, the crew—including the New York musician and sound artist DJ Spooky—set sail around the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, which is a few hundred miles north of Norway, and famous as the setting of those Golden Compass books. As the artists get back on solid ground, we'll dig out and highlight some of the most exciting and powerful work.
