E-waste Laws Across America

Do you have a cellular phone? Or perhaps a television? If you're reading this, you probably have a computer. And if you're wondering how to dispose of these electronics responsibly when they die, check out this very handy map from The Electronics Takeback Coalition. It will show you which states have e-waste recycling programs and laws (Connecticut just became the 24th) and has links to them all.

Note that the so-called "Dell bills"—e-waste legislation based on a model drawn up by Dell Computers—don't result in nearly as much recycling as other options. If your state is considering legislation, be wary of Dell's suggestions.
