Intermission: A Year's Worth of Makeup in a Day

In this video, ironically titled Natural Beauty, Belgian model Hannelore Knuts gets a year's worth of makeup (365 layers) applied during a single, nine-hour sitting. By the end, you're really thinking about the somewhat disgusting materiality of makeup, rather than considering it as just coloring. For more on how the video was made, check out Nowness. For another interesting video that uses a model to make a subversive point about the beauty and fashion industries, check out "Ghost" by Marco Brambilla.
