Make Your Own Meals: Organize Your Cooking Guides #30DaysofGOOD

June 9, 2012

Things are easier said than done, or so the old adage goes, and we couldn't agree more. That's why we do The GOOD 30-Day Challenge (#30DaysofGOOD), a monthly attempt to live better. Our challenge for June? Make your own meals.

Today's task is to organize your cookbooks and online cooking tools so you won’t have to scramble to find information when you need it.

First, go through the cookbooks you use the most and mark your favorite recipes with color-coded Post-it Notes. Organize the recipes by the amount of time they take to make.

Then, on the web-enabled device you use the most in the kitchen, bookmark your go-to recipes and all of the cooking sites you find most useful. Make sure to include tools like OnlineConversion.com (how many cups in a liter?) and NutritionData (what can I add to this soup to give it more fiber?). These can really come in handy for solving kitchen quandaries.

Lastly, if you’ve got time, create a station for your laptop or tablet so it won’t get in the way of your cooking. You can either search online for DIY solutions or choose from numerous product lines of mounts and stands.

We're giving away $500 for you to unite your community and "Make More Meals" from locally-sourced foods. Participate in our Share a GOOD Recipe challenge.
