President Obama, on the End of Combat Operations in Iraq

by Patrick James
August 31, 2010

On Tuesday, the United States will end combat operations in Iraq. On the eve of the momentous occasion, during his weekly address, the President spoke about making good on his campaign promise to end the war, as well as the new challenges faced by today's veterans.

The speech doesn't feel particularly triumphant—and Iraq's future is far from certain—but after seven years at least the war is over.
