Sounds GOOD: Download 'Caine's Arcade Theme Song'

by GOOD Worldwide

April 26, 2012

We're thrilled to introduce our Sounds GOOD series, which brings you digital singles to support awesome people and organizations. Each month, an artist we love will provide a track that can be downloaded in exchange for a payment of any size. GOOD will donate the song's net proceeds—in other words, total revenue minus transaction costs—directly to a project of the artist's choice. (Please be aware that payments for Sounds GOOD songs are not tax-deductible.)
Sounds GOOD's first release is "Caine's Arcade Theme Song" by Juli Crockett, a Los Angeles-based musician, writer, and director with a diverse résumé that includes stints as a professional boxer and member of a touring country band. The song provides the soundtrack to Nirvan Mullick’s "Caine's Arcade," the inspiring and wildly popular short film about nine-year-old Caine Monroy, who built a functioning arcade out of cardboard boxes in his father’s East Los Angeles auto parts shop.

Crockett says Caine’s pure passion for creating has motivated her since she discovered his arcade last year. "One of the biggest lessons I take from this experience is how important it is to persevere, even in the face of disappointment, obstacles, loneliness, and seeming failure," she says. "I think, spiritually, that is what really resonated with me about Caine's story. The unflagging faith that 'if you build it, they will come.'"

Listen to "Caine's Arcade Theme Song" below, then pay what you want to download it in any of a variety of audio formats. Net proceeds will be donated to the Caine's Arcade Foundation, which Crockett says will "find, foster, and fund creativity and entrepreneurship in more kids like Caine."
