Tune In to Help Reduce Childhood Poverty

by Sunaina Sondhi

December 16, 2013

Over 46 million Americans, including 16 million children, live in poverty.  In California, this affects more than one in five children. And if you include children who live just above the poverty line, nearly half of the children in the state either live in poverty or perilously close to it. Childhood poverty is a crisis affecting millions in California.

On Monday, December 16 from 9 a.m to 5 p.m., you can tune in online to watch speakers including Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’s Defense Fund, alongside a roster of speakers including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, discuss the best approaches to reducing child poverty in California.
