The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that students aged 6 to 17 participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily, which has been proven to increase physical health and self-esteem, reduce obesity, anxiety and stress, and prevent disease. Yet there has been a drop in high schools that mandate physical education. What is the state of physical activity in America's schools and why should we start taking time out to play?
