Monday marks the 25th year of the federal Martin Luther King holiday, and as always, it's "a day on, not a day off." Thousands of service projects—sponsored in part by the Corporation for National Service and America Serves—are happening across the country and they need your help.

In Compton, Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum will hold a day of service to refurbish the space to be used for a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math lab. TAM’s lab will offer hands-on enrichment to build a plane, a wind tunnel, and form a robotics team. "Operation Hangar Cleanup" will include cleaning, painting, organizing, and preparing the space where students will learn job skills and build work experience.
Volunteers with Interfaith Works and Hands On NOLA will head up a restoration project at John McDonogh High School, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Volunteers will install donated chalk boards, paint the second and third floors, and refurbish classrooms.
